Divisibility Rule of 4

A number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits form a number that is divisible by 4.

If the last two digits can be divided by 4 without a remainder, then the whole number is divisible by 4!


Steps to Check Divisibility by 4

  1. Look at the last two digits of the number.

  2. Check if that number is divisible by 4.

  3. If it is, then the whole number is divisible by 4.


Examples

Example 1: Is 7,216 divisible by 4?

  1. Last two digits: 16

  2. Check divisibility: 16 ÷ 4 = 4 (No remainder)

7216 is divisible by 4.


Example 2: Is 3,245 divisible by 4?

  1. Last two digits: 45

  2. Check divisibility: 45 ÷ 4 = 11.25 (Not a whole number)

3245 is not divisible by 4.
