  • A noun can be one in quantity or more than one.
  • A noun that shows only one person, animal, place, or thing is called singular.

Plural Noun Definition

A noun that shows many persons, animals, places, or things is called a plural noun.

The Rule for Making One Noun into Many Nouns:

  • When the nouns show many persons, animals, places, or things, we added ‘s’ at the end of the word.
  • Usually, two or more number of nouns shows a change in spelling. You will find the quantity of the noun mentioned in the sentence. For example: two apples, eight spoons, etc.

Examples:

If the noun refers to many objects, then we add ‘s’ at the end of the singular noun.If the noun refers to many objects, then we add ‘s’ at the end of the singular noun.

Exception:

  • There are few nouns that can be used both as singular and plural noun.
  • Don’t add ‘s’ at the end of these words to make them plural noun.
  • For example: News, fish, sheep, aircraft, etc.
