  • A clean environment helps us remain disease free. Germs of diseases like jaundice, typhoid, and malaria grow on dirt and litter.

a) Cleanliness in the House:

The following habits can keep our houses clean—

  • Using a dustbin for throwing litter and garbage.
  • Separating the wet and dry waste and dumping it properly.
  • Washing our hands immediately after entering the house.
  • Keeping all things in their proper places.
  • Regular booming, mopping and dusting the house.

b) Cleanliness at School and Playground:

The following habits can keep our schools and playgrounds clean:

  • Flushing the toilets after use.

Personal Hygiene:

It includes the cleanliness of our bodies. Personal hygiene ensures a clean and healthy body and boosts our mental well-being.

Bath Regularly.

It will keep germs and foul odours away from our bodies.

Brush the Teeth Twice a Day.

It will keep our teeth protected from cavities and germs.

Trim the Nails Properly.

Our nails get filled with dirt when they are too long. This dirt, if ingested while eating, can make us fall ill. So, we should trim our nails from time to time.

Wear Washed Clothes Always.

Unwashed clothes may lead to skin rashes and itches, and bad smells.

Comb the Hair Every Day.

It is necessary to oil as well as comb our hair to keep them healthy and dust-free.

Ensure the Proper Use of the Toilet.

Unclean toilet attracts germs which may cause infections. Many people use it; hence it is vital to use it properly.

Nose and Mouth While Sneezing.

It prevents the spread of germs that come out of our mouth and nose while sneezing.

Washing Hands Before and After Every Meal.

We must wash our hands with soap and water before and after every meal as it prevents germs from entering our bodies while eating.

Making the Mind Healthy:

It is equally important to keep our mind healthy along with our body.

The following habits can help us to keep our minds healthy—

  • Doing meditation and a few simple yoga asanas as a regular part of life.
  • Doing an activity for recreation every day, like playing outdoors, painting, gardening, or taking a walk in a park.
  • Keeping ourselves away from too much screen time.

  • Habits are an essential part of the routine we follow on a daily basis.
  • Practising healthy habits is necessary for a healthy mind and body.

Bad Habits:

  • Biting The Nails: Our hands come in contact with various things daily. Biting nails expose us to different disease-causing germs.
  • Spitting In Public Areas: By spitting in public, we expose everybody around us to bodily fluids that may have germs. It also makes our surroundings dirty
  • Not washing Our Hands Before And After Meals: It allows disease-causing germs to enter our body and may make us sick.

Practising Good Habits:

Let us see some good habits we should practice daily for our physical, mental, and moral growth.

  • Taking care of elders at home and spending time with them.
  • Being part of the spiritual rituals in our homes allows us to know about our culture and keep our minds stable.
  • Spending some time outside with nature. It can be in a park, on open ground, near a lake, garden, etc.
  • Reading good books.
  • Following the instructions of our elders. They know better as they are experienced.
  • Greeting the elders respectfully. It allows us to interact with the elders happily and cheerfully

Screen Time: Time spent watching TV, playing video games, i.e., doing activities which need an electronic screen.

Recreation: Activities that are unrelated to work or studies are generally done for enjoyment.

Spiritual: Something related to religious beliefs.
