Answer :

(i)  : The poet wanted to know where the teachers go at four o’clock because at this time school gets over. 

 

(ii) : Living in a house, living with their parents, washing socks, wearing pyjamas, watching TV, picking their noses, making spelling mistakes, being bad, getting punished, losing books, doodling on school desktops, and wearing old soiled pants are all things normal people do that the poet mentions.

 

(a) : He imagines that the teachers live in houses.

(b) : They washed their socks, wore pyjamas, picked their noses, and watched TV when at home.

(c) : They lived with other people, and it is probable that they also had mothers and fathers. 

(d) : Their activities would be similar to what children do today. They were also bad, made mistakes, never got spellings right, and were punished in the corner for pinching the chocolate flakes. They would have also lost their hymn books, scribbled on the desktops and wore old dirty jeans. 

 

(iv) : The poet wondered if teachers also do things that other people do because he thinks they are superhumans. They did not make any mistakes and were strict. Moreover, they punish those who commit mistakes.

 

(v)  : The poet plans to find the teacher’s routine by following one of the teachers on the way back home and observing what they do. Once he found out their schedule, he would compose it into a poem, which then those teachers would read to their students.
