पहले सवैये में वनवास को जाते हुए सीताजी की थकावट का वर्णन किया गया है। सीताजी अयोध्या नगर से दो कदम दूर चलने के बाद थक जाती है, उनके माथे पर पसीना आने लगता है, उनके कोमल होंठ सूख जाते हैं। वे श्रीरामजी से बड़ी व्याकुलता से पूछती है कि पर्णकुटी कहा बनानी है तथा अब कितनी दूर चलना है? सीताजी को इस दशा में देखकर श्री संत राम जी की आँखें नम हो जाती है। दूसरे सवैये में श्री राम का सीता के प्रति प्रेम दिखाया गया है। सीताजी को थका हुआ देखकर श्रीराम बहुत देर तक पाँव से कांटा निकालने का अभिनय करने लगते हैं ताकि सीताजी को आराम करने के लिए कुछ समय मिल जाए।

वन का मार्ग अत्यंत कठिन था। मार्ग में बहुत सारे काँटे थे। बीच में कहीं पानी का स्रोत नहीं था। दिन का समय था तथा बहुत गर्मी पड़ रही थी।
गर्मी के दिनों में कच्ची सड़क की तपती धूल में नंगे पाँव चलने पर पाँव जलते हैं। ऐसी स्थिती में पेड़ की छाया में खड़ा होने और पाँव धोने पर बड़ी राहत मिलती है। ठीक वैसे ही जैसे प्यास लगने पर पानी मिल जाए और भूख लगने पर भोजन। तुम्हें भी किसी वस्तु की आवश्यकता हुई होगी और वह कुछ समय बाद पूरी हो गयी होगी। तुम सोचकर लिखो की आवश्यकता पूरी होने के पहले तक तुम्हारे मन की दशा कैसी थी?
किसी वस्तु की आवश्यकता पूरी होने के पहले तक हमारे मन में बहुत व्याकुलता रहती है। उस वस्तु के विचार बार बार दिमाग में आते रहते है तथा उसे प्राप्त करने के लिए अनेक प्रयास करते हैं।हम वस्तु के आने से पहले ही विचारो का भवन सजा लेते है, की उसकी पूर्ति होने के बाद हम उसका किस तरह प्रयोग करेंगे । यह विचार हमें उसे प्राप्त करेने को प्रेरित करता रहता है। छोटी छोटी बातों में भी हम उस वस्तु का वर्णन बीच में ले ही आते है। हम अपने लक्ष्य पूर्ति के लिए अपने कार्यों को कुछ चरणों में बाँटते है। फिर उसको धीरे धीरे प्राप्त करता होआ देखते है। मन की वह व्याकुलता हमें निश्चिंत नही बेठने देती। उस वस्तु को प्राप्त करके की मन शांत और खुश होता है।
