What did the poet himself say about his thoughts and poems?

 

Answer :

According to the poet, Ernest could listen to the outlying thoughts of a heavenly song in his thoughts. The poet however also felt that his own life has not been in correlation with his thoughts. His grand dreams had only been dreams. He doubted his own faith in his thoughts sometimes.

What made the poet proclaim Ernest was the Stone Face?

 

Answer :

The poet saw Ernest while he was talking to his audience and observed that his words were kind, powerful and came from the depth of his heart and mind. He felt that Ernest’s life and character was even more noble than any of the poetry he had ever written. The poet observed many similarities between the misty white clouds around the Stone Face and the white hair around Ernest’s brow. This made him proclaim that Ernest was the Stone Face.

 Ernest was a really humble personality who was known by people. He was a hard-working and thoughtful person. With him growing older, he became a well known person of the valley. College professors and men from far away cities used to come to meet him. Earnest used to talk with those people with utmost humbleness and sincerity. He spoke with them with an open heart. He lived his life very selflessly and did many good deeds. The reality of his life reflected very clearly on the words that he spoke and so they came out very impactful and from the depth of his heart. His face used to brighten up while talking to his audience, which made him different from other people in the valley.
